JUNE 2001 MEETING:

Microsoft Word In-Depth
Document Forensics and Metadata

King, Herpel and Associates is pleased to invite you to the June 2001 meeting of The Southern California Word Legal User’s Group.  At this meeting, we will go in-depth into Microsoft Word!  Be at this meeting to gain a greater understanding of Microsoft Word and how to effectively work with Word documents.

First we’ll have a presentation on Document Forensics by Terry Aurit, Supervisor of Word Processing at the law firm Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.  Terry will discuss the mechanism she has employed at Sheppard Mullin for dealing with problem documents.  This will include procedures for in-depth assessment of Word documents including information about the Word Object Module.  Terry will discuss the significance of the document’s planned usage (including document collaboration) with respect to the various options and spectrum of changes that can be made while cleaning up or creating a Word file.

Next at the meeting will be a presentation by King Herpel and Associates on MetaData.  We’ve briefly discussed this important issue at a previous meeting, and by popular demand, we are covering this topic again, this time, in greater detail.  Heidi Herpel of King, Herpel and Associates will be on-hand to show you exactly what in Word constitutes MetaData and will also talk about the options available to ensure that your electronic documents do not contain such data.

To accommodate firms located in different parts of the city, we will be repeating the meeting, holding it first in the Westside, followed by Downtown. A lunch will be catered compliments of King, Herpel and Associates and the law firm of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.  We would like to thank Sheppard Mullin and also the Microsoft Corporation, for accommodating us with this session.
